This is how it works: (explanation ganked from haro and abarero)
1- Members of fandom put things up for auction: fic, art, icons, crafts, various interesting miscellany, etc.
2- You bid, and the highest bidder donates that amount of money to a Haiti-relevant aid organization or charity of their choice.

For help_haiti I am offering one fanfic of at least 1,500 words, or as much as 8,000 depending on how close to my interests the request is. Simple logic: I get more inspired by things that I love.
